Japanese new car sales up by 40pct YoY in January

The Japan Automobile Dealers Association said that domestic sales of new cars rose by 40.7% YoY in January 2012 to 263,267 vehicles, marking the fifth straight month of growth.
Sale of passenger cars increased has by 42.7% YoY to 239,107. Of those, sales of standard passenger cars expanded 54.2% YoY to 114,787 while sales of small models climbed 33.5% to 124,320.
Sales of standard size trucks rose by 33.2% YoY to 8,111.
