POSCO announced that the Cilegon City Government, PT Krakatau Steel and PT Krakatau POSCO together coordinated social work activities on January 13th 2012.

More than 86 Krakatau POSCO employees participated in the event, which was led by president Mr Kim Dong ho and also included members of the board of directors. Most of the employees were newly recruited as key job and engineer trainees.

The Employee Volunteer Work is a part of PT Krakatau POSCO's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Cilegon City Mayor Mr Tb Iman Ariyadi also participated in leading the event.

On the previous day, Mr Kim, accompanied by Human Resources Director Mr Alugoro Mulyowahyudi and other employees, visited the Samangraya, Kubangsari and Tegal Ratu villages to donate rice and instant noodles. They were welcomed by village heads Mr A Dimyati, Mr Tubagus Juanda and Mr. H Rusdi Ihsan.

Mr Kim said that he hoped the assistance from PT Krakatau POSCO could encourage the residents and strengthen the relationship with the community not only as neighbors, but also as a family.

Mr Kim also detailed drainage construction plans to prevent future flooding.

Meanwhile, the heads of the villages expressed their appreciation on the attention given by PT Krakatau POSCO. They said it was time to put effort into realizing development instead of wasting time on finding fault.
