
According to the data published by Eurostat and the National Institute of Statistics, in February 2011 compared with January 2011, the euro area industrial new orders index rose by 0.9% MoM. In January 2011, the index grew by 1.2%. In the EU 27, new orders increased by 1.2% MoM in February 2011, after a rise of 0.5% in January 2011.
Excluding ships, railway & aerospace equipment, for which changes tend to be more volatile, industrial new orders increased by 0.6% in the euro area and by 0.3% in the EU 27.
In February 2011 as compared with February 2010, industrial new orders grew by 21.3% YoY in the euro area and by 19.8% YoY in the EU 27. Total industry excluding ships, railway & aerospace equipment4 rose by 20.8% and 19.3% respectively.
