According to the Commerce Ministry, Thailand's inflation for September 2012 rose by 3.38% YoY on the back of rising food and beverage prices.
Consumer price index in September 2012stood at 108.77 points, an increase by 0.34% from August 2012. The index rose by 2.69% YoY in August 2012.
Ms Vatcharee Vimooktayon, the new permanent secretary for commerce, said that as a result, the nine month CPI increased by 2.94% from the same period last year.
She attributed the September's increase was quite high because of the comparison to low figure last year.
The September's core inflation index, which excludes food and energy prices, stood at 108.77 points, a rise by 1.89% YoY while the nine month core inflation increased by 2.19% from the same period last year.
The ministry revised down its 2012 inflation forecast to between 3% and 3.4%, from earlier projection at 3.3% and 3.8% as the index has been pressured by the government's policy on goods price control.
