
Data from the US Census Bureau showed that construction spending during November 2011 was at an approximate annual rate of USD 807.1 billion, up by 1.2% MoM.
Construction spending in November 2011 reflected the third month of growth over the last four months, spending in October 2011 had dropped by 0.2% MoM. The November 2011 figure is also 0.5% YoY above the November 2010 annual rate of USD 803.0 billion.
Nevertheless, during the first 11 months of 2011, construction spending amounted to USD 724.8 billion, dropped by 2.5% YoY from the USD 743.6 billion for the same period in 2010.
Spending on both private and public construction contributed to the increase. Private construction spending was at an annual rate of USD 522.3 billion, up by 1% MoM, while the annual rate of public construction spending was USD 284.9 billion, up by 1.7% MoM.
