
According to Malaysian media resources, Malaysia attracted MYR 35.8 billion in investments, foreign and domestic, in manufacturing projects in the first eight months of 2011.
Mr Mukhriz Mahathir Mohamad deputy minister of international trade and industry of Malaysia said that 54.2% of the total investments were foreign direct investments, while 45.8% were domestic direct investments.
Accordingly, a total of MYR 6 billion in foreign investments were invested in the basic metal products industry which was one of the five key sectors which attracted foreign and domestic investments, while a total of MYR 4.4 billion were invested by domestic investors in the industry in question.
