Week 06 has been characterized by a very low activity both because consumption and demand remain sluggish and because of low pace of deliveries due to adverse weather conditions in a big part of the continent, mainly in East EU.
Therefore prices remain basically same as week before with some negligible increase for HGD and CR due to apparent shortage. HR prices, both domestic and imported, weakened in Italy, whereas plates lost about EUR 5 per tonne in Spanish domestic market.
Domestic Mills are continuing in their attempt of increasing prices with a very timid response of the market, all customers being very careful to buy only what strictly necessary and avoiding to accumulate stocks.
Credit is remaining tight an unemployment in sensibly increasing in all EU countries with particular negative situations in Spain, Portugal and Italy.
The two combined factors are disappointing the expectations of a better trend, as indicated by all analysis during end of 2009 and beginning of 2010.
