The hopes of steel mills of a magical revival vanished last week as most of the market players in Europe, just returned from holiday, did not rush to buy to replenish their stocks.
As per market reports, domestic mills seem to be under pressure to secure volumes and have resorted to small cuts and as a result prices of flat as well as long products in Italy, Germany and Spain have weekend a bit last week.
Cheaper import offers from Black Sea, Turkey, Russia and China also spoiled the sport.
On the other hand, some of the long producers for H beams and profiles have announced EUR 30 per tonne price increase wef September 1st 2011, but as per some market players it is unlikely to stick.
