The hope of post holiday revival in European steel market vanished further last week as the sentiments among the buyers and stockiest took further beating last week.
As per market reports, steel consumption specifically in the real estate sector is further decreasing in most of the nations in EU under the impact of the general economic crisis.
It was reported that steel plate prices went further down in Italy last week. Some local producers are said to have booked orders at prices around EUR 570 per tonne EXW for quality S355J2 while others should have booked at prices around EUR 590 per tonne delivered.
Also HRC in Italy was extremely weak. The recent price increase of EUR 20 per tonne by domestic producers seems to be vanished due to lack of demand as most of the domestic producers have temporary suspended offers in the attempt to defend price level.
Same it applies to other EU countries, particularly in Spain where consumption is further decreasing under the impact of the general economic crisis, specifically of the real estate sector.
