Steel prices across all types and regions in Europe continued to suffer last week as the demand remained sluggish with buyers being extremely cautious to avoid losses by buying exactly what is needed for today.
In a significant development HR Plate in quality S275 JR + B orders from China have been concluded at EUR 515 per tonne to EUR 520 per tonne CFR FO Ravenna This is major climb down from the level of EUR 540 per tonne to EUR 560 per tonne CFR FO basis + extra. Black Sea based steel mills have also decreased their offer levels for plates this week by USD 20 per tonne to USD 30 per tonne.
Long products prices are relatively more stable than flat. However in a major blow the Italian mills booked debar orders from Algeria at levels below EUR 500 per tonne FOB.
