An Italian major has reported scrap levels of Euro 320 per tonne DDP for standard quality.
Some of the major Italian mills seem to be poised for major purchases keeping market afloat. Whereas most of the merchant bars and de-bars producers are well stocked having bought enough before holidays.
They are said to have an average scrap cost of around Euro 285 - 290 per tonne (in between minimum and maximum band of Euro 275 per tonne and Euro 325 per tonne DDP of Q4'11) which should lead to a billet cost of around Euro 450 per tonne ex works.
