The Board of Directors of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association has announced the appointment of Mr Steve Rodgers as its new president, effective January 1st 2010.
Mr Rodgers brings over 30 years of automotive manufacturing and consultancy experience including employment working at ABC Group, Magna International and General Motors Corporation. Most recently he was president of GS Global Solutions. He is also a past chairman of APMA.
Outgoing president Mr Gerry Fedchun, who led APMA through the industry’s worst economic downturn since the Great Depression in 2009, is vacating the post after 12 years.
During that period, Mr Fedchun successfully led the association through significant growth garnering international recognition for the association and forging strong links with governments to promote and support the industry in Canada.
Mr Sam Alesio chairman of the APMA said that "Mr Gerry Fedchun has served our association well over the years and has been very busy over the past 15 months as we have dealt with a particularly severe automotive crisis. In order to ensure an orderly transition, and to continue to serve our members, he will continue on as a part time advisor to the APMA as executive director and will chair a newly created legal affairs committee."
