
Japanese steel giant Nippon Steel announced that it has suspended galvanized steel pipe deliveries, since it has been discovered that galvanized steel pipes processed at its Kimitsu Works were insufficiently galvanized.
It said “As a result, we have suspended the delivery of those pipes from August 25th 2010.”
1 Galvanized steel pipes for ordinary water piping
2. Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride lined steel pipes for water piping (SGP-VB)
3. General piping pipes (ASTM A53SB/F, BS1387-H/M67) (Major destination: the Middle East)
It said “We intend to review and where necessary, improve the quality assurance systems of the Nippon Steel Group in an attempt to prevent the recurrence of this situation and regain the confidence of our customers. We will continue to respond as appropriate regarding this situation.”
