One killed in explosion on grounds of Evraz Rocky Mountain steel mill

It is reported that there was n explosion on the grounds of Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel Mill in Pueblo. The explosion happened at a company that leases land from the steel mill called Western Metals Recycling. One man has died.

The 30 year old's name has not yet been released pending notification of family. He was not an employee of Western Metals, but an out of state contract laborer working from Rectec LLC from Hammond, LA.

11 News is told someone may have punctured a pressurized tank, causing it to explode.

The address of the steel mill, that used to be called the CF&I steel mill, is 1612 E. Abriendo Avenue in Pueblo. The explosion happened at a company that leases land from the steel mill called Western Metals Recycling.

There are no other injuries and there is no threat to the public.

A witness says she heard a large gunshot or boom when the explosion happened. She works at a store near the mill and says she never saw any smoke after the explosion.
