It is reported that Ontario's newest wind tower manufacturing plant is expected to bring 300 new full time jobs and up to 400 construction and indirect service jobs to the province.

The Windsor wind tower plant is part of a CAD 7 billion investment by Samsung and its partners in Ontario. The plant will be built and run by a new Ontario based subsidiary of CS Wind. Samsung and partners intend to use 100% Ontario steel to manufacture all of their towers. The total projected consumption will be 200,000 tonnes of domestic steel with a face value of CAD 140 million.

The Canadian Wind Energy Association praised the new plant.

Mr Robert Hornung president of CanWEA said that "The Green Energy Act was created to make Ontario one of the most attractive markets for wind energy in North America and to bring jobs and economic opportunities to the province. Today's announcement is another example of the investments and economic benefits that can be generated when a stable policy environment exists for clean energy development."
