POSCO has received overall good evaluations from the CDP committee, an international climate change evaluation institution, on carbon disclosure and reduction efforts, and was selected as a leader in carbon disclosure and carbon performance.

POSCO is the only steelmaker worldwide selected.

The Carbon Disclosure Project Committee selected 51 and 48 companies respectively for the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index 2010 and Carbon Performance Leadership Index 2010 amongst 2,500 leading companies worldwide. POSCO was selected in both categories while the only other Korean company included Samsung Electronics.

Due to global warming which has become an issue worldwide, performance to climate changes for reducing greenhouse gases has become a social responsibility for companies and has risen to become a major criterion in evaluating corporate value.

POSCO, which is promoting environmental management as one of the 3 major management principles, was evaluated highly for transparently disclosing detailed information to all stakeholders while continuously releasing carbon reports and sustainability reports.

POSCO also received good reviews for proclaiming greenhouse gas reduction goals, operation of the carbon neutral program and internal emission trading system, and innovative technology development for CO2 reduction.

Meanwhile, the CDP committee also newly established the Carbon Performance Leadership Index and announced leading companies.
