POSCO has won the top award at the Smart Work Caset Study Competition held at the annex of the Central Government Complex on January 13th 2012 from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security.

The event was designed by the ministry to award organizations that distinguished by themselves from many others by way of their exemplary operation of Smart Work Initiative and people who significantly contributed to promoting the initiative.

POSCO was highly reviewed for its efforts to markedly improve the efficiency of the site work using smart phones and effectively use its office spaces by introducing a flexible seating system.

In addition, the company received positive evaluation for its introduction of the smart work environment to deal with businesses by using mobile devices in the area of steel manufacturing process which requires workers to undergo rigorous checks of numerous facilities and operation status.

The ministry plans to expand the public awareness that the introduction of smart work system can bring fruitful results such as productivity enhancement, employees' satisfaction and cost reduction through the competition.

Mr Seo Pil eon vice minister of the MOPAS said that "The government will establish the top class smart work system using Korea's world renowned IT competences and actively promote the work method conducive to individuals and families as well as organizations."

At the ceremony, the awards of excellence were given to the Gyeongin Regional Statistics Office which enhanced employee satisfaction through introduction of smart work and KT which serves as a model case by establishing a task force team to internalize smart work in an attempt to settle the system in the company. And, the participation awards were given to Microsoft Korea, Yuhan Kimberly and Korea Water Resources Corporation.
