PSI has been awarded by the ArcelorMittal business unit Long Carbon Europe with the delivery and implementation of the Production Management System PSImetals for the wire mill at the Gandrange steel plant in France.

As an overall process control system, PSImetals provides material tracking and process control functions covering the furnace area, mill area, cooling beds, finishing area and the hook conveyor area. With this order PSI expands its solution portfolio for producer of long products.

The PSI solution is based on the component PSImetals Production and will replace five legacy systems. The included Technical Data Warehouse enables fast online reporting and KPI data calculation. Furthermore, it offers a standardized repository of technological know how within the system and transparency of the production process by real time availability of relevant operational data and process status information.

The connection to various basic automation systems and the existing host system as well will be handled by PSI integration. With a generic solution approach PSImetals provides high flexibility for future requirements. The implementation is planned for the end of 2010.
