The Pakistan Steels Mills’ Employees Union Management has challenged the mill’s privatization and asked the Supreme Court to make them a party against the Privatization Commission and the consortium that had successfully bid for the purchase.
Daily times have reported that the union has filed a petition under article 184(3) of the Constitution and hired M Abdul Mujeeb Pirzada as their counsel.
The Supreme Court has issued an interim order against the Pakistan Steel Mill’s privatization, saying the mill’s possession should not be given to the consortium till June 15. The court also stopped any activity regarding privatization until further orders.
A Supreme Court bench will resume hearing the case on Tuesday.
