China Post quoted Mr Matthias Mueller CEO of Porsche as saying that Iconic Porsche 911 sports cars could in the future be produced in factories in Asia or the United States.

He added that "This year, we are going to discuss whether to start assembly in Asia or North America. The main thing is that the car has Engineered by Porsche on it. Where it is produced is no longer so important."

Currently, the company manufactures its cars in factories in Leipzig, in eastern Germany and Stuttgart, in the west.

Porsche saw a strong gain in sales in 2010. Some 95,000 cars were delivered to customers in 2010, an increase of 25%.
