NEWS BUSINESS REPORTER said that production at ArcelorMittal’s plant in Lackawanna has ended.

Mr Tim Hartman VP of United Steelworkers of America Local 2604 said that about 28 hourly employees are working in the plant. He estimated about 10 salaried people are still there.

Mr Hartman said “There hasn’t been anything good going on, that’s for sure.”

About 260 employees were working at the site when steelmaker ArcelorMittal announced last December that the plant was destined for a springtime shutdown. Since then, some workers have left with severance packages, while others hope to be placed in a job at ArcelorMittal’s plant in Hamilton.
