It is reported that, due to weak demand in both the domestic and global markets, Duferdofin Nucor Company shut down their blast furnace with capacity of 0.5 million tonnes in Italy's Giammoro plant on July 17th 2009.

The company said that the blast furnace will be shut down for a period of several weeks and will be restarted in September. The Giammoro plant mainly produces H, IPE and IPN section steel.

Meanwhile, some steel plants in Turkey are intending to idle their equipment due to the decreasing steel demand during the month of Ramadan.
