Nyrstar NV has announced that its zinc production dropped by 30% QoQ in the first quarter of 2009 as compared to the previous quarter.

Nyrstar said in a statement that it was planning to transform the cost structure across the entire company. And this would result in over EUR 50 million in cost savings per year from 2010.

Nyrstar's zinc production totalled 187,200 tonnes during the first three months of 2009, while it was 255,300 tonnes in the fourth quarter of 2008.
