It is reported that Rural and Industrial Design and Building Association is launching a factory production control manual and design protocol for CE marking steel framed buildings, under a link up with TRADA Technology and the Steel Construction Institute.
As per report, RIDBA members are currently signing up for the factory production control manual and the design protocol. The link up offers members, who also include timber framed building manufacturers, markedly reduced costs to CE mark their frames.
CE marking will become mandatory in the UK from July 1st 2013 when the Construction Products Regulation comes into force.
Among the RIDBA members already committed to CE marking are:
Robert W H Brown
AJ Lowther and Son
Bowie Lockwood Structures
Browns of Wem
Colley (Farm Buildings)
Curtis Engineering
DeVille and Lear
G and T Evans
MD Anthony
Mervyn Ross Engineering
Minshall Construction
RE Buildings
Simpson & Allinson and Shufflebottom
RIDBA members supply approximately 50% of the UK agricultural market and more than 12% of the total single storey steel framed market. They erect more than 5,500 agricultural and industrial buildings a year and supply an area of approximately 2 million of steel framed buildings.
RIDBA will launch the factory production control manual and design protocol to its members in October and then hold seminars in November to explain how RIDBA membership can reduce the cost of CE Marking steel frames.
