Ruukki has obtained CE marking rights for welded steel structures in building construction projects. CE marking has been and is being used in the following customer projects: K-rauta Skanssi in Turku, Finland, a power plant in Narva, Estonia and the Kanalveien office building in Bergen, Norway.

For customers, CE marking means the technical dependability and safety of frame structures. Use of certification that guarantees quality enables customers to compare products used in building projects and is especially important to customers operating in many EU states. CE marking means that products can be freely marketed across the European Union and European Economic Area. Marking will become compulsory in 2013-2014.

Ruukki's sites in Peräseinäjoki and Ylivieska in Finland have been awarded the right to use CE marking. The Ylivieska site makes steel products for building construction, as well as bridge structures. The right to use CE marking has been awarded to Ruukki's plants at Oborniki in Poland, Bolintin Deal in Romania and Gargzdai in Lithuania.

The CE marking of steel structures is based on standard EN 1090 and authorized for Ruukki by Inspecta Sertifiointi Oy. Ruukki's plant in Oulainen in Finland, which makes infrastructure construction products, and the plants in Vimppeli, Finland and Bolintin Deal, Romania, which make load bearing sheet structures, have also been given CE marking rights based on the same standard.
