According to SSY estimates, total new building deliveries of dry bulk carriers in the first 10 months of 2009 stand at 34.46 million DWT. That compares with the total for the whole of 2008 of 23.88 million DWT.

Due to stronger charter markets, deletions of capsize vessels have been reduced to zero over the past 4 months versus the peak of 5 vessels in February 2009.
