
According to a new survey, nearly two thirds of the entrepreneurs in Central & Eastern Europe expect the global economic turndown will continue to mar business conditions as it still has not hit the rock bottom.
A poll by German strategy consultants Roland Berger Strategy Consultants among senior managers in 9 countries in the region revealed that just 5% of the respondents are upbeat about the business environment, while 64% are bracing up for a new deterioration and 31% think the environment is unstable.
The Bulgarian Stock Exchange was the hardest struck of all in the CEE region. In addition, the Bulgarian economy, together with the Hungarian, will fail to claw back from recession in 2010. The majority of the polled executives were adamant the global economic storm will hit hard on another economy and not their own.
The poll found that most managers were disgruntled with the measures that governments and lawmakers have adopted to try to counter the economic decline. The polled executives predicted the crisis will loosen its grip within two years.
