
Romanian Times reported that the Romanian car market dropped by 7.4% YoY in 2011. A number of 110,668 units were sold in 2011, including vehicles for personal use and commercial vehicles, which is down from 119,576 units in 2010.
Sales of cars dropped by 11% from 106,328 units sold in 2010 to 94,624 sold in 2011.
In the last four years, the vehicle market dropped by 70% in Romania, due to the economic crisis.
In 2011, Romania exported 304,924 vehicles, which is 3.1% less than the previous year, while imports dropped by 3.7%, to 79,761 cars.
The most sold car in Romania was Renault's Romanian made Dacia (28,337 units), followed by Volkswagen (10,043 units), Skoda (8,260 units), Renault (7,229 units) and Ford (5,547 units).
