Ruukki is to improve the efficiency of its construction component manufacturing network by reorganizing production at the profiling plant at Anderslöv in Sweden.
It is planned to switch the production of Ruukki's profiled building components from Anderslöv to other Ruukki units at Vimpeli in Finland and Zyrardow in Poland. In the same context, there are also plans to discontinue colour-coating line operations at the Anderslöv site and, in future, to provide similar services from other Ruukki units. The production of studs and subcontracted products used in building construction will continue in Anderslöv.
Employer-employee negotiations with regard to possible workforce reductions are to be initiated at the Anderslöv plant as a result of planned measures to improve efficiency. A total of around 120 persons are affected by the negotiations and it is estimated a workforce reduction of approximately 60 persons is required.
Mr Sami Eronen, SVP, Northern Europe and Infrastructure of Ruukki Construction said that "We are developing operations in pursuit of permanent improvements and greater profitability. We are improving the efficiency of our construction business by centralising production on our larger units. This will enable us to also serve customers more effectively than earlier and in turn strengthen our market position in the Nordic countries. Regrettably these actions will also mean job losses.”
