Ryerson Inc, a leading processor and distributor of metals in North America and Asia, announced a major renovation and expansion of its Little Rock, Arkansas, service center.

Ryerson Little Rock’s investment in cutting edge plate processing technologies will greatly enhance its plate capacity and capabilities. Ryerson is adding heavy plate leveling, straightening and forming equipment and shot blasting capability.

Ryerson is also investing in machinery that will support high definition plasma cutting and the ability to drill, tap, machine and bevel in a single setup. New coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and laser scanning capabilities will ensure adherence to customers’ stringent quality requirements.

Mr John Crews General Manager of Ryerson Little Rock said “This investment in Little Rock will place Ryerson at the forefront of plate processing capabilities in the region and allow us to meet the needs of our growing customer base.”

As a comprehensive plate processing facility, Ryerson will be able to deliver finished parts through its existing integrated logistics network to customers throughout the Southwest U.S.

The Ryerson Little Rock expansion is expected to be complete in March 2012 and will generate approximately 20 new jobs, bringing employment at the facility to 170 people.
