SSAB appointed new Heads of the SSAB Americas and SSAB EMEA Business Areas. Both will become members of SSAB’s Group Executive Committee.

Mr Charles Schmitt will head the Americas Business Area. He is a member of SSAB America’s management team and currently head of the Southern Business Unit in SSAB Americas.

Mr Melker Jernberg, currently SVP at the truck and bus manufacturer Scania, will be the new Head of EMEA.

Mr Charles Schmittholds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has spent his entire career within the steel industry. He began at US Steel Corporation and thereafter has worked for more than 20 years within IPSCO, subsequently SSAB, holding senior positions within marketing and sales. Charles Schmitt will take up his new position on 18 July.

Mr Melker Jernberg holds an MSc in Engineering from KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm). Largely speaking, throughout his professional life since 1989 he has worked at Scania, where he has held a number of senior positions. Melker Jernberg is currently SVP with responsibility for the Buses and Coaches business area. He will take up his new position at SSAB not later than January 1, 2012.
