It is reported that Salzgitter Mannesmann International Inc is suing a corporation complaining that it negligently handled cargo shipped to the company, causing damage.

As per repot, Salzgitter Mannesmann International Inc filed the lawsuit in Harris County District Court on December 17th 2010 complaining that STX Pan Ocean Co Limited mishandled the cargo to be delivered by sea to Salzgitter, causing it to be damaged.

STX controls the M/V New Eminence which carried the cargo from Dalian in China to Houston in Texas. On or about October 30th 2008, a shipment of steel pipe was delivered in good order and condition to the port of Dalian in China. At the port, STX and their subcontracted agents and port captains loaded the cargo on the ship negligently, causing it physical damage. This contributed to the damages found when the cargo arrived in Houston. Because of this, STX failed at its duties as a common carrier and was at fault.

The plaintiff is seeking damages from the court including attorney's fees, judgment amount to be paid and the costs of court relief of which the plaintiff is entitled.

Salzgitter is represented in the case by Houston attorneys Mr Dana K Martin and Ms Sara M Banks.
