BNamericas reported that South Korea's Samsung Engineering has been awarded a USD 220 million contract by Trinidad & Tobago's state oil company Petrotrin to supply an ultra low sulfur diesel plant.
The plant will be built at the Pointe a Pierre refinery complex and is due to be completed in March 2012. The plant will produce 40,000 barrels per day of the fuel with sulfur content under 8ppm complying with Euro V standards. The contract includes all engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
In 2006, Samsung entered the Caribbean market with a naphtha hydro treater and catalytic reformer unit plant contract also awarded by Petrotrin that is due to be ready this year.
Samsung said that it plans to enlarge its coverage of new orders and business portfolios in Central and South America.
