
It is reported that Sawbrook Steel Castings Co has agreed to a USD 20,000 penalty for violations of Ohio's air pollution control regulations.
According to the Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services, some of the steel foundry's regulated air pollution sources emitted excess air pollutants, especially particulates, during late 2006, early 2007 and 2008 and damaged property of nearby residences.
Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services said that Sawbrook Steel also installed additional air pollution sources without first obtaining permits and was late submitting quarterly reports identifying control equipment operating deviations.
As part of the agreement, Sawbrook Steel, which is now in compliance, will implement, maintain and update its preventative maintenance and malfunction abatement plan.
