US Senator Mr Sherrod Brown applauded the announcement of Esmark's acquisition of the former RG Steel plant in Yorkville.
The senator said the news is a welcome for Ohio. He added that "This announcement is great news for Ohio and its dedicated workers. I applaud the management team at Esmark, the United Steelworkers, the State of Ohio and the entire Yorkville community for their efforts."
According to a news release from the senator, Esmark expects to restart the Yorkville facility in January 2013, bringing 160 jobs back to the area.
RG Steel filed bankruptcy at the end of May 2012 and began liquidating its assets, including the Yorkville facility.
According to a letter Senator Brown sent to EPA Administrator Mr Lisa Jackson, in July 2012, the US Environmental Protection Agency sent attorneys for RG Steel a letter outlining 62 solid waste management units and nine areas of concern at the Yorkville facility.
Esmark announced earlier this week the environmental concerns have been resolved.
