
According to a report released by European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, Romania has registered the largest decrease of new car registrations in the European Union in February. Romania registered a decrease of 63% YoY, followed by Hungary, with a minus 57.9% YoY and Poland, with a minus 19.2% YoY. New car registrations in Romania in February dropped to 2,658 from 7,187 in February 2009.
In EU member states, new car registrations increased by 3% YoY on average in February and by 7.9% YoY over the first two months of the year as compared to the same periods in 2009. Compared to 2008, new car registrations decreased by 16% in the January to February 2010 period.
In February, a total of 974,346 new cars were registered in Europe. The EU markets that had the largest increases were France (18%), Italy (20.6%) and the UK (26.4%).
The report also shows that Germany was the only large market to decline from January to February. The German market declined by 19.5%.
