It is reported that Shiloh Industries Inc has temporarily laid off 83 workers and eliminated four jobs. The cuts began in September at the company's Medina Blanking division in Valley City.
Shiloh did not notify the state until this week, after the company determined that laid off employees could be out of work for more than six months. Those employees, mainly line and production workers, can be called back within 12 months of when they were let go.
Shiloh is a major supplier of metal blanks and stampings for the ailing American automotive industry. Last month, Shiloh said it lost USD 6.1 million during its first quarter. Its sales fell by 53% YoY as its largest customers shut down vehicle production for most of the quarter.
