
Argus reported that the overall tonnage of oil, gas and chemical tankers handled by the Port of Singapore in August 2010 fell to 47.573 million tonnes as compared with 48.522 million tonnes a month earlier.
According to a preliminary data issued by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the August 2010 tanker tonnage is also lower than August 20009 when the port handled 48.271 million tonnes.
Oil tankers accounted for 39.925 million tonnes of the August 2010 total, marginally lower than the 39.93 million tonnes handled in July 2010 and lower than the 40.148 million tonnes handled in August 2009.
Combined LNG and LPG tonnage handled by the port in August 2010 fell to 3.758 million tonnes as compared with 4.138 million tonnes in July 2010 and lower than the 4.379 million tonnes in August 2009.
Chemical tanker arrivals fell in August 2010 to 3.89 million tonnes from 4.454 million tonnes a month earlier but up on the 3.743 million tonnes handled a year earlier.
The overall number of tanker arrivals in Singapore during August 2010 fell slightly to 1,837 vessels compared with 1,852 a month earlier.
