
It is reported that South Korean government has presented mid and long term development plans to transform the nation’s nine major industries into low carbon, eco friendly ones.
During a presentation explaining the government’s green transformation plan in Seoul, Mr Lee Yoon ho knowledge economy minister said that the government will seek sustainable growth by transforming the nation's major industries into eco friendly ones.
He said that the government will guide the steel, petrochemicals and textiles industries on their path to create technology to fight climate change and develop eco friendly materials. The auto, shipbuilding and machinery industries will be charged with addressing the issue of carbon dioxide emissions reduction.
He further added that in addition, the government will encourage the semiconductor and appliance industries to create innovative forms of alternative energy.
