
According to data released by the Korea Iron and Steel Association, South Korea's exports of steel pipes totaled 1,145,838 tonnes in the first five months of 2012, surging by 23.1% YoY.
It is analyzed that the increased overseas sales of steel pipes used in energy sectors boosted South Korea's steel pipes exports in the given period of time.
In the first five months of 2012, the sales of steel pipes for use in energy sector surged by 35.3% YoY to 765,291 tonnes, accounting for 66.8% of the country's total steel pipe overseas sales.
Also, the exports of line pipes increased by 27.7% YoY to 444,681 tonnes; that of oil country tubular goods surged by 47.5% YoY to 320,610 tonnes.
