According to data released by the Korea Iron & Steel Association, South Korea imported 3.124 million tonnes of steel products in May 2012, falling by 10.2% YoY while increasing by 1.6% MoM.

In May 2012, the country's steel products imported from Asian countries totaled 2.43 million tonnes, rising by 2.7% YoY, acquiring about 80% of the country's total imports of steel products.

China was the largest exporter of steel products to South Korea with 1.134 million tonnes in May 2012, falling by 4.1% YoY.

In the first five months of 2012, South Korea imported 14.92 million tonnes of steel products, decreasing by 5.4% YoY.
