CBC News reported that SKA new bridge, planned for St Louis, south of Prince Albert, will take longer than expected to complete due to a shortage of steel.
The St Louis bridge was supposed to be finished in 2012. However, according the provincial government, the company making steel girders can't get the raw material it needs in order to meet the project's completion date.
The province said alternative measures to keep the project on time would have driven up the cost significantly. The new completion date is now the fall of 2013. Work on the bridge began in January of 2011.
The government describes it as the final link in a primary transportation corridor linking Saskatchewan's north, from La Ronge, to southern parts of the province.
