Associated Press looks at the steel industry's progress in recovering from the devastating recession, with a particular eye on Pittsburgh-based United States Steel Corporation.

April 24th 2012 was a big day for US Steel, which reported quarterly earnings and held its annual shareholder meeting in Pittsburgh.

The AP said US Steel, AK Steel and others are still struggling due to higher costs for products and the economic problems in Europe.
