SunCoke Energy Inc has announced preliminary fourth quarter and full year 2011 US coke production. Total US coke production is estimated to be 1,015,000 tonnes in the fourth quarter 2011, an increase of 100,000 tonnes versus the same period in 2010. The increase in the fourth quarter reflects the startup of our new Middletown facility and improvement in Indiana Harbor operations. Excluding Middletown operations, our domestic coke making operations continued to run in excess of 100% of capacity.
For the full year 2011, total US coke production is estimated to be 3,762,000 tonnes. The full year increase was driven by the Middletown startup and strong performance at our Granite City and Indiana Harbor operations.
