According to the latest data released by the Swedish Steel Producers' Association or Jernkontoret, Swedish crude steel production amounted to 345,200 tonnes in November 2011, down by 18.8% YoY and also down by 12.7% MoM.
Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of 2011, Swedish crude steel production totaled 4,492,900 tonnes, with an increase of 0.9% YoY.
Jernkontoret indicates that Swedish steel companies have focused production on more advanced steel qualities. In Sweden, at present around 60% of the total production comprises alloyed steel which also includes stainless steels. In the rest of the EU, as well as in the USA and Japan, alloy steels only comprise 10% to 15% of steel production.
