TATA Steel has placed an order for a flatness measurement system from Shapeline in Sweden to be installed in the production line of its plate mill in Scunthorpe in UK.
The laser based system is capable of measuring 4.8 meters wide plates on line and has an integrated laser doppler sensor for speed and plate length measurements. Installation of the system is planned for the year end 2011, with start up early 2012.
The system will be used for quality control as well as to significantly reduce the number of leveling passes to increase the throughput in the production.
Shapeline AB is a Swedish based supplier of systems for flatness measurement within the global steel and metals industry. The company started in 1999 and has today supplied over 60 flatness systems for productivity and quality optimization worldwide.
