Recently, thought the wire rod prices have dipped in Taiwanese market, the prices of imported billet have remained strong. As a result, the re rollers have suffered from the loss.

It is known that the prices of imported billet have kept stable in the recent two to three months. Currently, the prices of imported billet for blast furnace Al killed wire rod are at USD 800 to USD 810 per tonne CNF.

Accordingly, the production cost has come to USD 900 per tonne after adding the costs of re rolling and transportation. However, the current transaction prices of EF Al killed wire rod are at TWD 27,500 per tonne, which is close to the production costs.

For the prospect, industry source said the wire rod prices wouldn’t drop further due to the rising prices of imported billet.
