It is reported that Taiwan's steel mills are unwilling to cut prices of steel plate despite slack market. The current market price for steel plate is about TWD 18,000 per tonne, but most mills still quoted at TWD 18,500 per tonne.

Meanwhile, some exporters quoted steel plates from India, Ukraine and Korea at USD 550 per tonne, but no actual deals have been made since the market in the first quarter of 2010 looks doubtful.
