South Wales Evening Post reported that a former steel worker turned printer is looking to expand her business after a fresh round of funding.

As per report, Ms Vonnie Parsons worked in the research and development department of the Port Talbot steel works before launching her own business Tech Print in 2003. The firm has received two significant loans from TATA Steel subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise. The organization supported the launch of Tech Print with a GBP 17,500 loan.

It has now provided a second loan of GBP 15,000 which the firm plans to use to invest in new equipment.

Tech Print's founder said that "UK Steel Enterprise has given us fantastic support over the years and helped the business to succeed. This second loan has enabled us to invest in new equipment to keep up with changes in technology."

Ms Parsons supervised the digital printing of technical documents when she worked at the steel plant.

Tech Print now takes on tasks from complex documents, to tickets and invitations. The latest round of funding has paid for a new book making machine.

Ms Parsons said that "We now do a lot of work for the Co Operative Funeral Service, printing and binding Orders of Service, as well as other clients."

Mr Glyn Thomas of UK Steel Enterprise said that he was delighted to offer ongoing support to Tech Print. He added that "The firm provides an excellent service to businesses, organizations and individuals in the locality and it is pleasing to see it moving forward. Since we are part if TATA, it is also gratifying to be able to offer timely assistance to a former employee who has branched out so successfully into self employment."
