The TenarisHydril Wedge 625™ technology was run for the first time with outstanding results in the Eagle Ford Shale of south Texas on November 9th 2011. The connection was designed for use in high pressure, horizontal and deep wells where a semi flush connection is needed to facilitate well construction.

The complete string of 5.5 inches Wedge 625™ connections, which totaled 331 joints descending 14,000 feet into the ground, was run.

As the first connection in the new Wedge Series 600™, this solution provides extra tensile and compression efficiency, torque resistance, and internal and external sealing capacity. The TenarisHydril Wedge 625™ connection was specially designed to be applied in shales, horizontal and extended reach wells and deep wells.

Mr Jon Barton Tenaris Technical sales director for the US said that "We were very pleased with the running of the TenarisHydril Wedge 625™ connection. It gives the operators an excellent alternative to the threaded and coupled connection."

Mr Andy Fein, Tenaris Field Service Specialist, said that "The TenarisHydril Wedge 625™ connection has excellent rotational torque, which allows the operator to get to places it has never been able to get before."

The new TenarisHydril Wedge Series 600™ has the Dopeless® option available. This multifunctional coating is applied in a controlled industrial process at the mill, leaving the connection ready to be run at the rig. As it renders the use of dope superfluous, it minimizes risks, improves operational efficiency and protects the environment.
